Quote of the Day:

“The words you can't find, you borrow.
We read to know we're not alone. We read because we are alone. We read and we are not alone.”

Banned and challenged because of author’s public statements, and because of claims that the book contains “selective storytelling incidents” and does not encompass racism against all people. Read more here.

Quite often, Jason Reynolds' books can be found on the American Library Association list of most challenged books. In a visit with television late-night host Stephen Colbert, Reynolds said, “For those of us on that list, it’s not a badge of honor,” Reynolds told Colbert. “People always say, ‘Congratulations. You’re doing something right.’ It’s like, yeah, but at the same time, there’s been access cut for all the young people who might need these books and where they might only get them in schools. You can’t take for granted that there might not be a library or bookstore in everybody’s community or that there may not be a $20 bill to go buy that book that they no longer have access to because of these bannings.” You can read more about Reynolds and banned books here

"An amazingly timely and stunningly accessible manifesto for young people....At times funny, at times somber but always packed with relevant information that is at once thoughtful and spot-on, Stamped is the book I wish I had as a young person and am so grateful my own children have now."-- Jacqueline Woodson, bestselling and National Book Award-winning author of Brown Girl Dreaming

* Reynolds ( Look Both Ways) lends his signature flair to remixing Kendi's award-winning Stamped from the Beginning...Told impressively economically, loaded with historical details that connect clearly to current experiences, and bolstered with suggested reading and listening selected specifically for young readers, Kendi and Reynolds's volume is essential, meaningfully accessible reading.-- Publishers Weekly, starred review
