We Are Reopening to the Public On June 15th!

Starting on June 15th, we will be allowing limited customers back into our store for browsing (3 maximum). To say we are excited to welcome you is an understatement! This is one more step toward normal in the age of COVID-19.

In the time we have spent providing curbside, we have been preparing for your return: cleaning, sanitizing, organizing, and putting safety measures in place to protect customers and staff. Operating a business during this extremely weird time is a balancing act: we want to do what we do best and give the best customer service we possibly can, but we also recognize that there are constraints, and safety needs to be our #1 priority. Please be kind and understand we are truly trying are best. Moving forward, here are a few things we think you should know:

  • We will continue to offer curbside service for our customers who are high risk or need to avoid public spaces.
  • Walk-Ins are welcome and are first come, first serve. We ask all customers
  1. Please visit us another time if you are feeling unwell.
  2. Limit browsing to 15-minutes maximum. The CDC uses this time frame as the operational definition for prolonged exposure to COVID-19. We have chosen this time limit to minimize risk to customers and staff.
  3. Wear a mask.
  4. Practice social distancing and remain 6-ft apart from other customers and staff.
  5. Children must be supervised.

We are grateful beyond measure for all of the support and encouragement we have received from you during these uncertain times. We can't wait to see you in person (and your mask!). Our hope is to bring as much of our store outside as possible this summer, and celebrate each day as one giant book party. Who is in?

Covid-19 Update

Blue Graphic that says Coronavirus Covid-19 It is with a heavy heart that we announce the temporary closure of our store through March 30th. This was an easy decision and it wasn't. We had a few different options on the table for trying to remain open and manage the situation.  We are passionate about providing a service to our community--especially in a time of need--and it goes without saying that if people are self-quarantined, they are going to need lots and lots of books. Even under normal circumstances, March on Cape Cod is already a lean time of year for businesses. These are the facts.

But we also love our customers, our staff, and our community.  The situation with Covid-19 is very fluid; hour-by-hour the warnings become more dire. Rather than continuing to react to the news, we decided to be proactive in trying to gain some control over the situation, and ultimately encourage people to just stay home. We are still here. If you would like to call us to ship a book to you--or even just to talk books--give us a call at (508) 896-6543. I (Val) will continue to post updates, book recommendations, and other fun, book-related stuff and community service announcements. You can also support us by signing up for audiobooks through libro.fm  (link on our website!) or shopping for books in our online store: Click Here to Shop Our Online Book Store!

We are all going to get through this together. We can't wait for the day when we can say, remember the time... .and Coronavirus will only be a memory. When all is said and done, we are all going to be stronger, more resilient, and better than ever before! Stay safe everyone and read lots of books!

Special Fundraiser for ARL Boston--Brewster Branch with Author Dr. Nick Trout on July 12th!

As an author, Dr. Nick Trout had us hooked with his very first book, Tell Me Where It Hurts (a modern canine classic in our opinion!). His latest novel, The Wonder of Lost Causes is not only set on Cape Cod (mostly), but “Equal parts heart-wrenching and heartwarming… A true testament to the power of love in its purest and most absolute form.” (Rachael Lippincott, New York Timesbestselling author of Five Feet Apart). No writer captures the bond between human and canine better than Dr. Nick Trout.

Nick Trout talks about The Wonder of Lost Causes with Jim Braude in an interview here: https://www.wgbh.org/news/arts/2019/05/28/nick-trout-and-the-wonder-of-lost-causes

This event should be called great books for a great cause--we hope to see you on Friday, July 12th from 10am-12pm!

They are

Book Store Turkeys!

Our customers are diverse. Some are big and some are small, and we always try to find the perfect book or gift for everyone. We take a lot of pride in this. Until yesterday, we had never had a turkey stop in for a visit. Not even one.

It just goes to show . . . the word is getting out! Even turkeys know that books make the perfect gifts!
