We were chosen to be in the community-wide Shop Local scavenger hunt hosted by ABA-member bookstores with participation from over two-hundred and fifty independent bookstores across the United States. Waldo spotters can be young or old, and are eligible for prizes throughout the month of July. We hope you join us for a celebratory at the end of the month!
Beginning on July 1, Waldo-spotters will find Waldo hidden in the store daily. Pick up a Find Waldo stamp card at The Brewster Book Store (or other participating businesses) and collect a store stamp or signature for each Waldo they locate. At the end, we will have a celebratory party.
First introduced in 1987 as a search-and-find book, Where’s Waldo? has become a publishing phenomenon and pop culture icon. More than 78 million copies of books about the intrepid explorer, created by Martin Handford, have been sold in over thirty-one countries. Waldo, with his iconic red-and-white-striped shirt, black-framed glasses, and bobble hat, has visited the pyramids in Egypt, walked the Hollywood red carpet, and traveled to outer space. The books continue to be published by leading independent children’s publisher Candlewick Press in the United States.
We hope you can join us in finding Waldo around Brewster in the month of July!
....run, don't walk, to the nearest nonschool library or to the local bookstore and get whatever it was that they banned. Read whatever they're trying to keep out of your eyes and your brain, because that's exactly what you need to know.” ― Stephen King
