Edward Gorey Celebration


As Edward Gorey fans, we couldn’t let his 100th birthday pass without some celebration!

Participate in our Dancing Cats Scavenger Hunt during February School Vacation Week (2.17 - 2.21). Discover Gorey-esque fashionable felines + friends hidden throughout the store and complete a “Cat-e-Gorey” sheet.

On February 22, we will celebrate Gorey’s creepy, spooky, and dark humor with his favorite breakfast treat. Stop by for a snack!

Decorate Gorey-ish envelopes with us inspired by From Ted to Tom: The Illustrated Envelopes of Edward Gorey.

 

Celebrating the King of Gore… Edward Gorey

In As Edward Imagined, children and adults alike will be inspired by the unique story of the genius who called Cape Cod home and by the whimsical illustrations that pay him homage. It should be require reading for all children - and parents - for our world is at its best when creativity is encouraged and honored.

The Theatrical Adventures of Edward Gorey: Rare Drawings, Scripts, and Stories chronicles Gorey’s time working as playwright, and set and costume designer. Learn about the roles he played from Broadway to Cape Cod’s community theaters. The definitive, deluxe art book includes annotated scripts, behind-the scenes anecdotes, and over 200 images.

 

If your curiosity is piqued and you have not yet been to it, be sure to visit the Edward Gorey House in Yarmouth Port. Once Gorey’s home, it is now a museum dedicated to his life and work, as well as his devotion to animal welfare.
