We believe in the power of the written word + shared stories.
Small but Mighty
Brewster Book Store is a full service, independent book store.
Open year-round, our store is filled to the brim with books, toys, games, greeting cards, and unique gifts. We are proud of our collection of Cape Cod books, our extensive children's section, and our wide selection of hardcover and paperback books for readers of all tastes and ages.
But that doesn't even begin to describe all that we offer. We host book signings, events, book clubs, and story time. We special order books and often have them within 1-2 days. We give educators a 20% discount on all classroom purchases. We provide complimentary gift wrapping. And our favorite service, we make personalized book recommendations. There is not much better than making a good book match!
At Brewster Book Store, we are passionate readers who love talking about books. We believe in the power of the written word and shared stories. We believe books can change lives, and we believe that everyone can develop a love of reading.
Our customers have widely varying reading experiences. Many are avid readers who browse or eagerly ask for new recommendations. Others are more hesitant, having not yet experienced the joy of the “right” book.
Regardless of where you are on your reading journey, we are honored to welcome you to our store. Whether you just want to browse, or you like the kind of personal service that only an independent bookstore can offer, we are here for you!
A history with deep roots.
Founders John and Nancy Landon opened The Brewster Book Store in a 1982 Spring blizzard with one room, 3,000 books, and three customers (all family members!). Under their leadership, the store grew in size and patronage and became a go-to for literary lovers.
A new chapter.
Ownership transitioned from the Landon family in fall of 2021 to Jessica MacKenzie Devin and Sue O’Malley, two friends committed to carrying on Nancy Landon’s vision for the book store - that of a community-minded resource for readers of all ages and interests. Jessica’s deep Brewster Book Store roots (daughter and niece of the store’s original managers, she began working there at 13!) coupled with Sue’s passion for creating community connections make them logical stewards of the store’s next chapter. They join a team of incredibly knowledgeable booksellers who have helped make the Book Store a favorite summer and year-round destination.

Community at our core.
Community connection and involvement has been a core value since opening our doors in 1982. We hire locally, we shop locally, and we collaborate with other local businesses to create events for the community. We are proud to feature the work of local authors and artists in the bookstore and twice a year, our Local Author Extravaganza provides a venue for area authors to meet our customers and sign books. We also invest in our community by sponsoring nonprofit organizations and contributing to fundraisers. We earmark a portion of our profits annually for community donations. Donations are typically in the form of sponsorships, gift certificates or books. This summer we are supporting:
Cape Rep Theatre
Brewster Ponds Coalition
Brewster Whitecaps
Interested in becoming a supported organization? Apply here to let us know about your fundraising needs.
Please note, we try our best to support as many organizations as possible but cannot exceed our allocated community budget. Priority is given to educationally, culturally, and environmentally focused not-for-profit organizations. If our resources are insufficient or if your organization is not selected during a particular month, you may reapply at a later date.

Each month, a parent/guardian can fill out a short form to tell us about the book.
Mass Center for the Book will run drawings for prizes. Monthly participation determines eligibility.
Have fun!
