Brewster Book Store has been matching readers with books for over 40 years, and our experienced booksellers will use your reading interests and goals to handpick books for you. 

How it Works

Sign Up.

Who is the subscription recipient (adult, teen or child)? All subscribers will receive a mix of hardcover and paperback books.

Share.

We will reach out to the recipient who will take our survey. We will learn about their favorite authors/genres and their hopes for their Brewster Book Box reading experience.

Read.

We will select and mail your book to you. After you read it, you will share your feedback. The information you share will guide our next selection. We will do this each month!

Your Questions Answered

  • The fee, which includes the book and shipping, is based on the reader’s age:

    Adult: $35; Teen: $25; Child: $20

    We offer billing cycles of 3, 6, and 12 months. You will be billed on the 10th of each month.

  • We ask that you provide your preferred mode of communication when you subscribe. We will email, text, or call according to your preference.

  • You will be matched with one of our experienced booksellers who will communicate with you and select your books. The booksellers work collaboratively, regularly exchange ideas and share favorites, and consult with each other when curating their selections for you.

  • There is no ideal age!! The Brewster Book Box is great for our youngest to oldest readers.

  • No Brewster Book Box will be identical; the type of book will reflect the information you share with us. You may receive all fiction, a mix of fiction and nonfiction, or all nonfiction - it all depends on what type of reading experience you are hoping to have!

  • We use the United States Postal Service (USPS). The shipping price is included in the subscription price. There is no additional charge for shipping.

  • While we aim to ship Brewster Book Boxes during the first week of each month, the date on which we send it is determined by the release date of the book we select for you. If we are excited to send you a book released in the middle of the month, your Box will be shipped at that point.

  • You should notify your bookseller. They will provide you instructions for returning the book and will send an alternative selection to you.

  • Your bookseller will reach out to you via your preferred mode of communication before selecting your next book. Your input will guide their future selections.

  • No. Part of the process is the matchmaking and surprise! You are always welcome to place special orders through the store.

  • Subscriptions can be renewed. You will not need to go through the sign-up process again.

  • No problem! Just be sure to communicate the change with us. Your bookseller will adjust based on your feedback.
