About the Book: The Many Adventures of Donnie Malone

The Many Adventures of Donnie Malone takes readers into the events that helped shape the American twentieth century. They begin when sixteen-year-old Donnie gets caught up in the patriotic swirl of World War I. Enlisting in the U.S. Army, he becomes a pilot during the deadly days at the end of the fighting.

About the Author: Paul Doutrich

Paul Doutrich is a former college history professor who has published two academic histories and many articles, both scholarly and popular, ranging from the American Revolution to life in the 1920s and baseball. His award winning The Many Adventures of Donnie Malone is his first work of fiction. Paul earned both a B.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Kentucky and an M.A. from Penn State University. He is currently a professor emeritus at York College of Pennsylvania. He and his wife live in Brewster.

In the classroom, Paul used his storyteller abilities to reach his students. After many years honing those skills in front of his classes, he now merges his knowledge of historical events and figures with an array of fictional characters to create engaging narratives for his readers. In his opinion, there are few things more enjoyable than a well told, well crafted story.

About the Book: What Lies Beneath

War. Spies. Gossip and lies. Mythical Creatures. Falling in love. And it’s still only July.

It’s 1917, and everyone is doing their bit now that America has entered the Great War—everyone except 17-year-old Emma Verlaine. Her overprotective dad won’t let her go to nursing school while he’s off doing war work; instead, she’s been sent to stay for the summer with her Gran on an island off Cape Cod, and the most she’ll be able to do for the war effort is knit socks. Socks!

About the Author: Marissa Doyle

Marissa Doyle graduated from Bryn Mawr College and went on to graduate school intending to be an archaeologist, but somehow got distracted. Eventually she figured out what she was really supposed to be doing and started writing. She’s channeled her inner history geekiness into a successful young adult historical fantasy series and continues happily to write fantasy of various types for teens and adults. She lives in her native Massachusetts with her family, including a bossy but adorable pet rabbit, and loves gardening, being on the water, and collecting antiques.
